About
Kay Larrabee, Founder of WOMEN ON THE MEND, is a Certified Career Coach and a woman who has been through the trials and tribulations of the divorce process. She has dedicated herself to using her Career Coaching skills and firsthand experience with divorce to guide others through these difficult life transitions.As a speaker, Kay shares her knowledge and experience with others, admits the mistakes she made during the divorce process and presents a plan that will help others, not only protect their financial future, but move through this traumatic time with empowerment and grace.
WORK HISTORY
Prior to relocating to New Jersey, Ms. Larrabee worked at Goodwill of Delaware & Delaware County, Inc. and The Team Pennsylvania Careerlink of Monroe County, where she designed and facilitated career assessment and job search mechanics seminars. She created a weekly Job Club at the Careerlink, where job seekers could share their experiences, brainstorm specific job search techniques and network with others. She also created the Careerlink Career Closet, which provided appropriate interview clothing to eligible job seekers. Her work experience also includes advertising, media planning, sales, and public relations.
EDUCATION
Ms. Larrabee earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Communications from The University of Bridgeport (summa cum laude). Her concentration was in advertising & public relations, with a minor in psychology. In 2007, Ms. Larrabee earned an Associate Career Coaching Certification through The Career Coach Institute.
DISTINCTIONS
Ms. Larrabee is committed to empowering others through her work and community involvement. In 2005, she founded The First Impression Career Closet, a 501c3 charitable organization that provides interview clothing to women who are transitioning into the workplace. She has served on the Board of Directors of Head Start of Monroe County and the Pocono Area Branch of The American Association of University Women, where she chaired Sister-To-Sister Summits and the Transitions for Women Conference.
While living in Delaware, Kay volunteered her time to facilitate career coaching sessions and job search classes throughout New Castle County. She now instructs at both the People In Transition (PIT) Program at Gloucester County College and the Women’s Opportunity Center in Burlington County.
